WHAT IS DIY HAIR GROWTH OIL?
You might be wondering what the difference is between regular hair oil and DIY HAIR GROWTH OIL. There is a difference. Hair oil is more of a general purpose oil and of course, DIY hair growth oil is specific and you can make it yourself.
It can be used to add shine to the hair, lock in moisturizer, tame frizzyness, and protect the hair from free radicals. Carrier oils such as argan oil, coconut, and olive oil are some common oils that can be used on the hair.
DIY HAIR GROWTH OIL has a specific purpose and uses oils to target specific concerns. In addition to the use of Carrier Oils, hair growth oil will often include Essential Oils and herbs. This is especially true of DIY hair growth oil. For this hair oil recipe, I show you how to create an infused herbal oil for hair growth, that works and is easy to make.

HAIR OIL FOR HAIR GROWTH
Will DIY Hair Growth Oil Make Hair Grow?
There are a few things to consider when trying to grow long, strong, thick, and healthy hair. Firstly, hair grows from hair follicles. These follicles need to be stimulated for a fast hair growth oil to work.
Secondly, things like genetics, nutrition, and the environment are also contributing factors to hair growth. Lucky for us hair growth can be boosted by promoting blood circulation to the scalp, providing good nutrition, and keeping a clean healthy scalp.
So, the ingredients in this DIY hair oil along with some healthy hair habits and routines can certainly help to produce hair growth.
DIY HAIR GROW OIL AS A REMEDY
Rosemary and Fenugreek Hair Oil To Alleviate Hair Concerns
Not all hair oils are created equal. You can definitely tell this by browsing the store shelves at your local drugstore. There are a ton of hair growth oils on store shelves.
And, they all seem to be a one-size-fits-all. But, that doesn’t fly when it comes down to getting to the root of your specific hair concerns.
Here are just a few of the concerns I hear and have experienced myself that rosemary and fenugreek hair oil have been able to help with.
Common Hair Concerns & How Growth Oil Helps
CARRIER OILS
If you currently make DIY skin and hair care products you are probably already familiar with carrier oils. They are oils that can be applied directly to the hair and skin. But they are also used to dilute Essential Oils.
Essential oils are very potent, highly concentrated plant oils that MUST BE DILUTED before applying to the skin. Because this recipe is simple there are no essential oils added to this DIY hair growth oil recipe.
Carrier oils are also used to infuse herbs and florals. This is exactly the case for this hair growth oil recipe. If you are wondering exactly what carrier oils are good for the hair they include: olive oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, almond oil, camellia seed oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, carrot oil, and the list could go on and on.
For this particular hair growth recipe I used Avocado Oil, Coconut Oil, and Carrot Seed Oil.
More About The Carrier Oils in this DIY Hair Growth Oil
Avocado Oil
Avocado Oil comes from, you guessed it, the avocado fruit. It is an extremely moisturizing oil and is perfect for dry hair, parched hair.
This oil is high in healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals all of which help to strengthen the hair and prevent breakage. It nourishes the hair, penetrates the hair shaft, and is deeply hydrating.
Coconut Oil
Coconut Oil comes from the coconut palm tree. It’s rich in fatty acids and very moisturizing. This oil sometimes gets a lot of flack because it can clog your pores if not used properly.
When used as a hot oil treatment, as a hair conditioner, or as a hair mask, coconut oil can potentially prevent protein loss resulting in stronger hair strands. Each hair treatment that I just mentioned calls for you to wash it out of the hair so no need to worry about clogged pores.
Carrot Seed Oil
Carrot seed oil comes from the seed of the carrot plant. It contains vitamins A and E and is rich in fatty acids. This lovely oil conditions, moisturizes and strengthens the hair. Additionally, it also adds a nice shine to the hair.
HERBS & FLORALS
Rosemary For Hair Growth
Dried rosemary is fragrant, a bit piney and peppery and it’s a wonderful herb to infuse into hair growth oil, especially if you like the earthy smell. It’s been used traditionally for many years in both cosmetics and for medicinal purposes.
Benefits that dried rosemary may offer when infused into a hair growth oil include: stimulating hair growth, combating dandruff and itchy scalp, reducing hair loss, strengthening hair, and adding shine. Essentially using dried rosemary and rosemary oil for hair growth is believed by many to work, including me.
Fenugreek Seeds for Hair Growth
Like rosemary, fenugreek seeds have been used in traditional medicine for ages. Of course, it’s also been used as a culinary delight and as a powerful hair growth aid. Fenugreek is packed with proteins.
Protein helps to make hair stronger and if you can keep the hair from breaking then it will result in longer strands. Fenugreek also contains vitamin B3 which helps to strengthen the hair, reduce shedding, and improve the overall texture of the hair.
So, you can see why fenugreek seeds are a great addition to this hair growth oil. This is a super easy hair growth recipe to make. If you want to watch me make it first you can WATCH THE FULL TUTORIAL HERE.

Tips To Infusing Oil
Tools you’ll need
Here are a couple of tools you will need for this hair care recipe.
TIPS TO INFUSE HAIR GROWTH OIL
Tips
- You can infuse this DIY hair growth oil by placing the mason jar into a crock pot on medium and letting it infuse for around 5 hours. Make sure you use a rack to sit your mason jars on. These are my favorite Crock Pot Racks to use. This helps to avoid sitting the glass jars on the direct heat source.
- Additionally, you can also sit the Mason Jars in direct sunlight for 3 to 5 weeks to let the herbs infuse into the oils naturally.
- Lastly, you can use the water bath method of infusion. Just create a water bath using a double boiler. Place the oils and herbs into the top portion of the double boiler and let infuse over low heat for up to 3 hours.
