LIP GLOSS BASE

The main ingredient in any lip gloss is the lip gloss base. You can make your own or you can purchase a lip gloss base that is premade. If you are adventurous and want to try and make your own then you can combine natural ingredients like castor oil, baobab oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E for starters.

If you want to keep it as simple as possible then you can purchase a premade base. A premade lip gloss base contains some of the same natural ingredients, that an all-natural homemade lip gloss base would contain but it’s basically premade for you so you don’t have to do all the work.

Be sure to check out the full recipe and ingredient list below

And, with a premade base there are usually other ingredients added that might not be as easily accessible when it comes to getting the product. There are two popular premade lip gloss bases that I like, flexagel and versagel. Keep reading to learn more.

WHAT IS FLEXAGEL

Flexagel is basically a ready to wear lip gloss base. All of the ingredients have been added in for you including natural oils and vitamin E. This is by far the easiest lip gloss gel to work with. It’s clear in color, thick, and creamy and it gives you a high shine. It’s also ordorless.

Although it’s a ready to wear lip gloss base, you can certainly customize it to your liking. That’s what makes it a great DIY ingredient.

WHAT IS VERSAGEL

Versagel is a premade base that is more versitile, hense the name versagel. With versagel you can be more versatile and add other ingredients to it like shea butter and sweet almond oil. This lip gloss base is thick and creamy like flexagel, it’s also clear and orderless.

Now this lip gloss base is thicker than flexagel and also a bit more sticky. Sticky to me means that it’s going to stick around longer on your lips giving you a long-lasting wear. This could be a plus if you don’t want to reapply the product that often.

But it could also mean that your lips feel sticky, lol. Also if you are wanting to make other DIY products like lotions or hair gel, versagel can be used for that.

BENEFITS OF LIP GLOSS

Did you know lip gloss actually has benefits? Yes, it looks pretty on but it can do wonders for your lips. Most lip gloss bases are made with natural oils and emollients that help to moisturize and hydrate the lips. If you have dry lips and want to add a little bit of luster, high-shine lip gloss will help you do that.
