HOW TO MAKE 2 INGREDIENT BODY BUTTER
2 INGREDIENT BODY BUTTER RECIPE
Just a few ingredients
The goal of this 2 ingredient body butter recipe is to be simple and easy. Isn’t that what we all want out of life? The easier it is to make skincare the better. For this shea butter body butter recipe you basically add a 1 to 1 ratio of butter and oil, whip it up, and store it in a mason jar or cosmetic container until you are ready to use.
If you want to add fragrance oil or essential oil for a nice smell you can feel free to do so. Below are some of my favorite fragrance oils that smell delicious. But I recommend that you test out lots of different fragrance oils to find your favorite. In the meantime here are some fragrance oils that smell amazing, for you to check out.
Be sure to check out the full printable Body Butter Recipe below.
You can also make this recipe more therapeutic by adding in essential oil instead of fragrance oils. A few of my favorite aromatherapy essential oils are listed below. Essential oils are great to use because you can blend them to make the most amazing, healing, and therapeutic body butter.
Just remember to ALWAYS add carrier oils to essential oils when using them alone. In the case of this 2 ingredient homemade body butter recipe, the jojoba oil is your carrier oil. Also, keep in mind that essential oil should never be applied directly to the skin.
Here are some favorite essential oil blends for you to try.
Ready to try mixing your own essential oils together? Here is a quick reference for blending the above essential oils together.
My Favorite
Essential Oil Blends
You can blend different essential oils together to create your own unique scent. That is one of my favorite things to do because I know no one else will be wearing the same scent. To do this you will need to test out a few of your favorite essential oils and choose ones that you love.
Once you have chosen your favorite scent you can add it into the body butter to create a scented body butter that you can enjoy all year long.
And, blending your own scent will not only make you smell wonderfully different; other people will certainly ask you what scent you are wearing and you get to tell them you made it custom. How cool is that?
SHEA BUTTER
Shea Butter is one of the most amazing ingredients to use in DIY skincare because ti has amazing moisturizing and healing properties. I especially love using shea butter in homemade skin moisturizer and DIY hair moisturizer.
I recently made this Natural Whipped Shea Butter Recipe for Body and Hair. Unrefined shea butter was used and it turned out amazing. You can check out the recipe Here to make it for yourself or give it as a gift to friends and family.
For this recipe 2 ingredient body butter recipe, I used unrefined shea butter. The color of unrefined shea butter can range from an ivory color to a yellow color. If it is yellow then more than likely borututu root was added to the shea butter.
Borututu root is added to shea butter to make it softer and it also has antioxidants to help fight off free radicals. So it works great as a skincare additive.
If you are not as familiar with shea butter and want to learn more then I recommend reading the Shea Butter Moisturizer for Natural Hair post. It will shed a little more light on the history of shea butter.
JOJOBA OIL
Jojoba oil is one of my all-time favorite oils to use on my skin. It’s not too greasy. It glides onto the skin incredibly easily and it barely has any scent at all. If you love adding fragrance or essential oils to body butter then using carrier oils that don’t have a scent is a big plus.
Jojoba oil is extracted from the seed of the jojoba plant and it has a nice golden color. It’s a very versatile carrier oil. You can even use it directly on the skin for a stunning glow. If you are wondering what other easy diy skincare recipes you can use jojoba oil in check out this Moisturizing Lip Balm Recipe. It is heavenly.

How To Use Body Butter
Using body butter is easy. Scoop out a quarter size amount with your fingertips, rub it between both of your palms, then slather it on the desired area of your body until it is absorbed into the skin. Yes, it’s that simple.
Frequently Asked Questions
CAN THIS BODY BUTTER BE USED ON THE FACE? Yes, depending on your skin type. If you have dry skin then this body butter can be used on the face. I recommend testing it out on a small area of the face to make sure you don’t have any breakouts. If you have oily skin, I would not use it on the face especially if you are prone to acne or breakouts.
HOW OFTEN CAN I USE BODY BUTTER? Body butter can be used on the skin every day, both day and night.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BODY BUTTER AND LOTION? Body butter is thicker in consistency than lotion. Unless it is an emulsified body butter, body butter usually does not contain any water. Lotion almost always contains water as a main ingredient.
DOES BODY BUTTER EXPIRE? Yes, body butter does expire. It can last anywhere from 6 months to 1 year depending on the ingredients used and their expiration date.
HOW DO I STORE THE BODY BUTTER? Store the body butter in a cool, dry place. Keep it away from water and it’s best not to stick wet fingers into the body butter. Getting water into the body butter, which does not contain a preservative, can cause bacteria to start growing.
