Shower Tablets

Shower steamers are also known as shower bombs, shower tablets, and shower fizzers. When exposed to water and steam, they fizz and release fragrance into the air, creating a spa-like atmosphere in your shower. Hence, your very own spa-like retreat.

WHAT IS SODIUM BICARB

Sodium Bicarb, short for sodium bicarbonate is also known as baking soda. Yes, it’s the same baking soda you have in your kitchen pantry. It is a white crystalline powder. It’s used for baking, cooking, and cleaning. It’s great to make breads light and fluffy but it also makes bath bombs and shower steamers amazing.

WHAT IS CITRIC ACID

Citric acid is an organic acid but can also be produced commercially through a fermentation process. It occurs naturally in citrus fruits such as oranges, limes, lemons, and grapefruits, giving them their characteristic sour taste. It is found in many personal care products, including cosmetics.

WHAT IS CREAM OF TARTAR

Cream of tartar or potassium bitartrate is a stabilizer and leavening agent. Normally it is not used as a standalone ingredient in skincare products. However, for shower steamers, it works wonderfully. Cream of tartar is used to help bind and harden the shower steamer mixture.

WHY USE FLORALS IN SHOWER STEAMERS

When making any DIY skincare products, personalization is always at the top of the list. So I say personalize, personalize, personalize. Using different types of florals and petals will allow you to personalize your shower steamers for a more enjoyable shower experience.

WHY USE ESSENTIAL OILS

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of essential oils, is aromatherapy. Essential oils are used in shower steamers primarily for their aromatic properties and the potential benefits they offer during the shower. When the shower steamers come into contact with water and start to dissolve, the essential oils are released as a fragrant vapor.

A nice fragrant vapor can turn an ordinary shower into a therapeutic and spa-like experience. Using essential oils also allows for personalization. Additionally, since there is a wide variety of essential oils available, shower fizzers can be customized to suit your preference. Basically, creating your own essential oil blend will make for a wonder spa-like shower experience suited to your own needs.

HOW TO USE A SHOWER STEAMER

To use a shower steamer, you basically place it on the floor of your shower. Don’t place it directly under the water flow, place it in a corner away from the direct water flow. As the water hits the steamer, it activates the fizzing and aromatherapy properties, filling your shower with an amazingly pleasant scent.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do shower steamers work? Shower steamers work by reacting to water and humidity. When placed on the shower floor away from the direct stream of water, the steamers slowly dissolve, releasing pleasant scents through the warm, moist air.

Are shower steamers safe for the skin? Shower steamers DO NOT go directly on the skin. It is essential to avoid prolonged direct contact with the steamer itself and the undiluted essential oils used in its formulation. The essential oils are meant to be inhaled and not applied directly to the skin.

Can children use shoer steamers? While shower steamers are generally safe for most adults, they may not be suitable for young children, especially those under the age of three. I would recommend avoiding use for children.

How long does a shower steamer last? The fragrance released from a shower steamer depends on its size, formulation, and shower water flow. On average, a single shower steamer may last for one to three showers, but again this can vary.

Can shower steamers help with congestion or cold symptoms? Shower steamers with essential oils such as eucalyptus, peppermint, or menthol crystals may provide temporary relief for congestion or cold symptoms. However, they are not substitutes for medical treatment.

Can shower steamers be used in baths? No, shower steamers are specifically designed for use in showers and not for baths. They are formulated to dissolve and release fragrance in the presence of shower water and steam, whereas bath bombs are meant to fizz and disperse in a full bathtub.

How do I use shower steamers? To use a shower steamer, simply place it on the floor of the shower, ideally in a spot where it won’t be in direct contact with the water stream. As you take a shower, the steamer will dissolve and release its fragrance.
