Easy Homemade Calendula Salve Recipe with Lavender Essential Oil

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 2 oz Apricot Kernel Oil
  • 2 oz Sweet Almond Oil
  • 1/4 oz Candelilla Wax
  • 15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • Calendula Flowers
  • Rose Petals

HOW TO MAKE INFUSE CALENDULA OIL

  • Fill up a 4 oz or larger mason jar 3/4 of the way with calendula flowers.
  • Add 2 oz of sweet almond oil and 2 oz of apricot oil to the jar, making sure to cover the calendula flowers and place a lid on the jar.
  • Using a crock pot or slow cooker, that has a rack insert, place the mason jar on the rack and let warm for 4 to 6 hours on warm or low heat. Remove jar from slow cooker once infused time is up.
  • Strain the infused oil into a clean container using a mesh strainer or a cheesecloth.

HOW TO MAKE THIS CALENDULA SALVE RECIPE

  • Combine the calendula infused oil and the candelilla wax in a double boiler.
  • Melt the oil and wax mixture slowly over low heat.
  • Once melted, add 15 drops of lavender essential oil to the mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into several storage tins.
  • Garnish the calendula salve with a rose petal (optional).
