Total Time 1 hour 30 minutes

Equipment

  • Immersion Blender
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Double Boiler
  • Small Spatula
  • Scale
  • Thermometer
  • 8 oz container
  • Stirring Spoon

Ingredients

  • 204 g Distilled Water
  • 9 g Vegetable Glycerin
  • 31 g Babassu Oil
  • 16 g Mango Butter
  • 11 g BTMS 50
  • 6 g Cetyl Alcohol
  • 1 g Vitamin E
  • 1 g Preservative
  • 3 g Fragrance
  • 1 g Mica

Instructions

  • Measure 204 grams of distilled water and place in a heat safe container.
  • Measure 9 grams of vegetable glycerin and combine it with the distilled water and stir.
  • In a separate heat safe container measure 31 grams of babassu oil, 16 grams of mango butter, 11 grams of BTMS 50 and 6 grams of cetyl alcohol and combine them together.
  • Prepare a water bath and place the two containers in the water bath over low heat allowing them both to heat up to around 160 degrees (the emolients and oils will have definitely melted by now).
  • Remove both the containers from the water bath and pour the distilled water into the container with the emollients and oils and stir.
  • Now use an immersion stick blender to blend the mixture together. Alternate between blending for a couple of minutes and letting the mixture sit for 5 minutes. As the mixture starts to cool it will start to thicken up between blending it and just allowing it to sit.
  • Once the mixture has thicken up and cooled down to below 122 degrees add in 1 gram of preservative and blend it in very well.
  • Add 1 gram of vitamin E to the mixture and blend very well.
  • Add 3 grams of peony fragrance to the mixture and blend well.
  • Add 1 gram of pink mica and blend well.
  • Add finished lotion product to an 8 oz lotion bottle or 8oz jar.
